We’ve tallied the votes, dodged exploding chandeliers, and answered your most chaotic comments. The results are in—who took home the win: the wisecracking trucker or the cryo-thawed cop?
🏆 Sam’s Verdict
In our Battle Breakdown I weighed in on the six demon bag Verse the 3 seashells and everything in between. From Burton’s epic quotes to Spartan pantless escapade and in the end, rear-end that is – I made a choice.
“This time, I’m siding with Spartan. You can’t ignore future tech when the world’s on the line—though I’m sure Jack’s already bragging about the win at a truck stop bar.”
However it is NOT UP TO ME! and in fact it is YOU the listening audience that holds the final verdict in your control. We put up a pull and —

💬 Comment Highlights
We had a ton of great comments and reviews on this episode and some who made a dedicated effort to make shorter comments this time around, to make it easier on us to read LOL. Thank you all for your comments.
First up, Jon Shanks reminds me that I apparently committed a cinematic crime by never having seen Demolition Man.
“Still, a good excuse to revisit a couple of great fun films & I hope Sam Proof will rectify his egregious error…”
Alright, alright—point taken. Gonna fire up that Taco Bell–scented future and catch up.
But as. say in this episode, this show is not about me having a preconceived notion of who should win and why, but places the burden on the debaters to do all the research and actually argue their case. However if YOU all want to join me for a watch party of Demolition man let me know in the comments and I’ll see what’s possible
Then there’s Snerts, who keeps it brief but blows the door open with a cross-universe theory that lowkey blew my mind:
“Kevin came to make jokes. Ray came to battle. Ray wins… Is John Spartan the ancestor of Master Chief?”
I mean… Spartan John-117, Spartan John Spartan? Coincidence or deep lore? Discuss, internet.
Love this. No Notes. Chef Kiss
Cam Sully dropped both a Stallone fact and a burn in one swift combo:
“Unless it was Snake Plissken, there was no way Burton was beating any Stallone character… Why can’t Sam Proof and Co. actually watch the movies?”
Oof. A fair hit. We do our research, but yeah—I’ll cop to that. I’ll make a few extra popcorn runs next round.
Cam is a literal mind reader and I remember thinking at some point “This should have been Snake Plissken”
And closing us out, Maxtheman1001 dropped a truth bomb in one clean sentence:
“Spartan seeks violence. Burton deals with violence.”
This one feels like it belongs on a graphic tee, or tattooed across a flaming semi. Artists send me your best designs
🔥 Community MVP
Each week I’ll pick my favorite comment to be our
MVP of the Week: William Schmitt
William gave a thoughtful, balanced critique, brought up underrated points (potion powers, lightning reflexes, Jack’s luck), and even gave props to Ray’s argument style. Perfect blend of deep-dive analysis and fandom love.
“…Kevin never brought up the Lighting Reflexes that Jack posses, the ability to perceive and react to catching a knife is a skill worth noting. It sounded like Ray was expecting this to be brought up, but when it wasn’t he decided to do it himself so he could counter it anyway–“

🧩 Loose Ends & What Ifs
Even after we wrapped this one, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the weird little crossover possibilities between Big Trouble and Demolition Man. Like, sure, we settled the debate (kind of), but now my brain is stuck asking, “But what if…?”
Here’s a few scenarios that popped into my head—and yeah, I kinda want to see every single one of these movies now:
🔹 What if Lo Pan got cryo-frozen too?
Just imagine that. Lo Pan wakes up in 2032 San Angeles, fully restored, and finally ready to take over a future world where people are too polite to stop him. I’m picturing Lo Pan battling Dr. Cocteau in a passive-aggressive war for power while using floating eyeball drones to scout the Taco Bell wastelands.
🔹 Would Spartan survive a Chinese hell?
Look, Jack’s survived mystical realms, soul-stealing sorcerers, and elevator traps with spikes—Spartan’s toughest opponent was Simon Phoenix and a world without toilet paper. I’d love to see Spartan try to navigate one of those 1,000+ Chinese hells Jack talks about. I’m not saying he’d lose, but… yeah, he might lose.

🥊 Jack vs Spartan – Who’s the Real Hero?
- Jack Burton talks like the hero but often ends up knocked out or clueless.
- John Spartan is the hero — a hyper-competent action machine… with a weird soft side.
TL;DR:
- Jack Burton: “If I’m not back by dawn… call the president.”
- John Spartan: Actually comes back by dawn. With a smoking building in the background.
